As from 1 January 2011 a new definition of "Sludge Tank" is applicable to vessels with Marpol Annex I (IOPP) certificate. Also the codes for Oil Record Book has been amended. Ch. New list with acceptable cleaning agents for Chemical Tankers or Marpol Annex II vessels

According with 13.5.2 of revised Marpol Annex II which came in to force 1 January 2007, places restrictions on the cleaning agents used in tank cleaning operations applicable to chemical tankers or vessels with Marpol Annex II certificate. Restricted cleaning agents according to MEPC/Circ.363 can be used up to 31 December 2010 and can be sold up to 1 August 2010.

TOKYO MOU CIC on Harmful Substances

The Tokyo MOU and Indian Ocean MOU have announced a Concentrated Inspection Campaign CIC marine pollutants (harmful substances) carried in packaged form in accordance with Marpol Annex III, SOLAS VII and IMDG Code. The CIC is a three month campaign starting from 1 September 2010 up to 30 November 2010.

According with MARPOL ANNEX VI Regulation 12 as from 1 July 2010 vessels must have a list and record book of Ozone Depleting Substances.
