Pilot Transfer Arrangements

According with MSC308(88) amendments to SOLAS V/23, relating to pilot ladder arrangements, effective as from first safety equipment survey after 1st July 2012. Pilot ladders:

* Must be clearly identified in order to carry mandatory inspections
* A record must be kept on board with the date pilot later put in to service and any repair carried out.
* The scope of inspection during periodic safety equipment to be limited to physical inspection, no load test is required.
* New pilot ladders installed after 1st July 2012 must be certified by manufacturer or in accordance with international standards ISO 799:2004, Ships and marine Technology.
* PROHIBITED use of pilot hoists, applicable to existing vessels as well as new buildings.
* Ships side shell doors used for pilot transfer should not open outwards, applicable to existing vessels as well as new buildings.
